Etymology

From old Galician and Old Portuguese bucigiar (13th century, Cantigas de Santa Maria), probably from the blend of Latin bucca (mouth) and *oscitiare, from oscitare. Cognate with Portuguese bocejar and Spanish bostezar.[1]
