From Biblical Hebrew צִידוֹן‎ (Ṣīḏōn) and Aramaic ܨܝܕܘܢ‎ (Ṣidon) from Phoenician 𐤑𐤉𐤃𐤅𐤍‎ (ṣydwn /Ṣīdūn/). Cognate of Ancient Greek Σιδών (Sidṓn).
