trumspringa
English
Etymology
Coined by John Koenig, creator of The Dictionary of Obscure Sorrows, as a blend of German Stadtzentrum (“city centre”) and Pennsylvania German rumspringa (“hopping around”). Rumspringa is a traditional coming-of-age period in Amish culture (typically beginning at 16 or 17) during which Amish youth decide whether they wish to leave the Amish community or integrate into it fully.[1]
