Borrowed either from Russian камзо́л (kamzól, “camisole, straitjacket”) or from German Kamisol, Kammesol, Kamsol (“camisole, underjacket”). Ultimately from French camisole, from Italian camiciola, diminutive of camicia (“shirt”), from Late Latin camisia.
