From man'yōgana kanji 之, written in cursive style.

Syllable

𛁄 (romaji shi)

1. (obsolete) The hentaigana syllable that is used to represent shi in old Japanese text.

Usage notes

It can also be added dakuten, becoming 𛁄゙, to represent ji (zi).
