Etymology
First attested in the Neung-eomgyeong eonhae (楞嚴經諺解 / 능엄경언해), 1461, as Middle Korean 주머니 (Yale: cwumeni). Possibly from 쥐— (jwi-)/*주— ("to hold") (> 잡— (jap-)) + —ㅁ (-m, nominalisation suffix) + —어니 (eoni).
