Inherited from Paisaci Prakrit [Term?] (compare Sauraseni Prakrit 𑀲𑀺𑀓𑁆𑀔𑀸 (sikkhā)), from Sanskrit शिक्षा (śikṣā, “instruction, teaching”). Ultimately from Proto-Indo-Iranian *ćikš- (“to learn”).
