Cognate with Bengali আঁখ (ãkh), Oriya ଆଖି (akhi), Hindi आँख (ā̃kh), Gujarati આંખ (ā̃kha), Punjabi ਅੱਖ (akkha), Nepali आँखा (ā̃khā), Romani jakh, Kashmiri أچھ (ạch), Kalasha eč, English eye.
