Inherited from Old Marathi शोधणे (śodhaṇe), सोधणे (sodhaṇe), from Sanskrit शुध् (śudh, “to purify”) (infinite शोद्धुम् (śoddhum)). Compare Gujarati શોધવું (śodhvũ), Hindi शोधना (śodhnā).
