Verb

تَابَ (tāba) I, non-past يَتُوبُ‎ (yatūbu)

  1. to repent, to be penitent [+ إِلَى (object) = to God] [+ عَنْ (object) = sin] or [+ مِنْ (object) = sin]

      falammā ʾafāqa qāla subḥānaka tubtu ʾilayka waʾana ʾawwalu l-muʾminīna
      And when he (Moses) awoke, he said: "Exalted are You! I have repented to You, and I am the first of believers!"

      ʾinnamā t-tawbatu ʿalā l-lahi lillaḏīna yaʿmalūna s-sūʾa bijahālatin ṯumma yatūbūna min qarībin faʾūlāʾika yatūbu l-lahu ʿalayhim wakāna l-lahu ʿalīman ḥakīman
