单词 θρῖναξ
释义

θρῖναξ

Ancient Greek

Etymology

Mostly interpreted as a compound with τρι- (tri-), but the attempts at finding an Indo-European etymology have failed. Furnée compares τρίναξ (trínax, instrument used in agricolture), suggesting a Pre-Greek origin, in view of the variation θρι-/τρι- and the typical substrate suffix -ᾰξ.
