Of debated origin. Either from Proto-Ugric *ϑᴕćɜ- (“to become damp, get wet”) or from Proto-Finno-Ugric *sᴕsɜ- (“to become wet”)[1][2][3] + -ik.

- (intransitive) to soak, steep (to be saturated with liquid by being immersed in it)
- (intransitive) to become soaking wet in the rain, to become rainsoaked
