wꜣḏ-ns
Egyptian
Etymology
wꜣḏ (“fresh, vigorous”) + ns (“tongue”), thus literally ‘vigorous of tongue’; however, this is likely to be a later misinterpretation of an earlier name such as wng or wꜣḏ-sn.
Pronunciation
- (modern Egyptological) IPA(key): /wɑd͡ʒ nɛs/
- Conventional anglicization: wadj-nes
Proper noun
m
- A throne name notably borne by Wadjenes, a pharaoh of the Second Dynasty
