Etymology

From Ottoman Turkish آصلمق (aṣılmaḳ, to be hung, to be suspended, to hang, to cling)[1], from Ottoman Turkish آصمق (aṣmaḳ, to hang up, to suspend), from Proto-Turkic *as- (to hang)[2][3], morphologically as- + -ıl- + -mak.
