- (education) associate's degree: an academic degree awarded after the equivalent of approximately two years of college education, usually by community colleges.
Usage notes
The word is part of false friends between Standard Malay and Indonesian due to shared etymology. The Brunei, Malaysia and Singapore usage can be seen in Malay sarjana muda. Compare to Japanese 準学士 (jungakushi, “associate's degree”, literally “semi-, quasi- + bachelor”).
