intelligent haunting (plural intelligent hauntings)
- (parapsychology) A specter of a human soul that still retains a varying level of conscience and can interact in several ways with the living.

Usage notes
Intelligent hauntings only pertain to humans' souls. Poltergeists, doppelgangers, demons, and the like do not qualify for this term.
