Named after Georg Cantor (1845–1918), a German mathematician who invented set theory, and Ivar Otto Bendixson (1861–1935), a Swedish mathematician.

  1. (set theory) A theorem which (in a simpler formulation) states that a closed uncountable set in Euclidean n-space is equal to the disjoint union of a perfect set and a countable set.
