Etymology

Malapropism in the English Bible of the Hebrew כֹּפֶר / כּוֺפֶר (kōp̄er, henna) by confusion with camphor. The Hebrew is from Akkadian 𒇒𒌓𒀀 (kupru, bitumen, pitch) from Akkadian 𒅗𒉺𒊒 (kapāru, to smear, to daub on).
