Etymology
Borrowed from a Turkic language probably before the times of the Hungarian conquest of the Carpathian Basin (at the turn of the 9th and 10th centuries), from Ottoman Turkish مسلمان (musulman), from Persian مسلمان (mosalmân, “Muslim”), from Arabic مُسْلِم (muslim, “Muslim”). Compare Kyrgyz бусурман (busurman).[1]
