Etymology
From Latin bonus nuntius (“good news”), literal translation of Ancient Greek εὐαγγέλιον (euangélion, “good news”) (from where evangelio originates), from εὐάγγελος (euángelos, “bringing good news”), from εὐ- (eu-, “good”) + ἄγγελος (ángelos, “messenger”). Cognate with English gospel and good news, French bonne nouvelle, Portuguese boas novas, and Italian buone notizie.
