遮 [zhē] 动

1. ■ （使不显露） cover; hide from view; screen:

遮盖 cover over;

用帘子遮窗 shade the window with curtains;

用面具遮住脸 screen one's face with a mask;

月亮给云彩遮住了。 The moon was hidden by clouds.

2. ■ （拦住） block; obstruct; impede:

遮车 stop a car from proceeding;

遮雨 keep out rain;

横遮竖拦 block and obstruct

3. ■ （掩盖） conceal:

遮瞒不住 can't conceal sth. from sb.;

遮人耳目 cover up from the public
