还(還) [hái] 副

1. ■ （表示现象继续存在或动作继续进行; 仍旧） still; yet:

还有一些具体问题要解决。 Some specific problems have yet to be solved.

夜深了， 他还在做课外作业。 It was late at night and he was still working away at his homework.

2. ■ （表示在某种程度之上有所增加） even more; still more:

今年的收成比去年还要好。 This year's harvest is even better than last year's.

今天比昨天还冷。 Today is even colder than yesterday.

3. ■ （表示在某个范围外有所补充） also; too; as well; in addition:

除工资外， 他每月还有二十五元钱奖金。 In addition to his salary， he has a bonus of 25 yuan per month.

你需要金钱和时间 ，此外你还需要努力。 You need money and time， in addition， you need diligence.

他们参观了这所学校,还参观了工厂和医院。 They visited some factories， hospitals as well as the school.

4. ■ （用在形容词前， 表示程度上勉强过得去） passably; fairly:

屋子不大， 收拾得倒还干净。 The room is small， but it's kept quite tidy.

5. ■ （用在上半句话里， 表示陪衬， 下半句进行推论， 多用反问的语气; 尚且） even:

大人还举不起来， 更别说小孩了。 Even grown-ups can't lift it, to say nothing of children.

你跑得那么快还赶不上他， 何况我呢？ If a good runner like you can't catch up with him， how can I?

6. ■ （用以加强语气）:

那还用说! That goes without saying.

这还了得! This is the limit!; This is simply atrocious!
