赶(趕) [gǎn] 动

1. ■ （追） catch up with; overtake:

你追我赶 try to overtake each other;

赶上时代 catch up with the times;

你先走， 我一会儿来赶你。 You go on, I will catch you up.

2. ■ （加快行动， 使不误时间） rush for; try to catch; hurry [rush] through:

赶班车 try to catch the regular bus;

赶任务 rush one's work;

不要这么赶， 否则你可能会出事故。 Do not rush, or you may have an accident.

他们赶进城来和我们告别。 They hurried into the city to say good-bye to us.
