bluaj
Albanian
Etymology
From Proto-Albanian *mlē(n-), from Proto-Indo-European *melh₁- (“to crush, grind”). Cognate to Old Church Slavonic млѣть (mlětĭ, “to grind”).[1] Alternatively, according to Orel, from Latin molere (“to grind”), with the same buccalization of m before l as seen in bletë from melitta,[2] though note that others such as Demiraj derive bletë from Proto-Albanian, with the same shift of m to b before l nonetheless. In any case, see Proto-Indo-European *melh₂-.
