From Proto-Turkic *od-gur- (to wake), causative of the unattested stem *od-. Cognate with Old Uyghur [script needed] (odɣur-, to wake (tr.)), Karakhanid [script needed] (oδɣur-, to wake (tr.)), Khakas усхурарға (usxurarğa, to wake (tr.)), Turkish uyar- (to warn, alert). From the same root see; Turkish uyan- (to wake up (intr.)), Old Uyghur [script needed] (odon-, to wake up (intr.)), Karakhanid [script needed] (oδuɣ, awake).
