𐌲𐌰𐌺𐌿𐌽𐌸𐍃
Gothic
Etymology
Of uncertain origin, perhaps related to 𐌺𐌿𐌽𐌹 (kuni) or some other derivate from Proto-Indo-European *ǵenh₁-. Said to be different from 𐌲𐌰𐌺𐌿𐌽𐌳𐍃 (gakunds, “persuasion, compliance”), although some scholars regard this to be the same word despite the apparent semantic difficulty.
Noun
𐌲𐌰𐌺𐌿𐌽𐌸𐍃 • (gakunþs) f
- Semantically unclear; used in the phrase uf gakunþai, translating ἀρχόμενος.
Declension
Attested only in the dative singular.
