현질
Korean
Etymology
현 (hyeon, clipped from 현금(現金) (hyeongeum, “cash”)) + 질 (-jil, derogatory action-marking suffix)
Pronunciation
- (SK Standard/Seoul) IPA(key): [ˈçjʌ̹(ː)ɲd͡ʑiɭ]
- Phonetic hangul: [현(ː)질]
- Though still prescriptive in Standard Korean, the great majority of speakers (in both Koreas) no longer distinguish vowel length.
