Etymology
오며 (omyeo, “while coming”) + ㅇ (-ng, Middle Korean emphatic particle) + 가며 (gamyeo, “while going”) + ㅇ (-ng, Middle Korean emphatic particle). This is the only construction in which the particle in question survived into Early Modern Korean.
