Suffix
시꺄 • (-sikkya)
- Hwanghae form of 습니까 (seumnikka, “Interrogative suffix for sentence-final verbs”).
- 느이집은 어드메 있시꺄? ― Neu'ijib-eun eodeume itsikkya? ― Where is your house?
Usage notes
- Like 시겨 (-sigyeo), this suffix is used virtually only in Hwanghae province. It was also sometimes used among natives in other regions bordering Hwanghae Province, most notably Ganghwa Island in the south (though 시까 (-sikka) seems to be more common if this form is used), though in modern times it is only seldom used among older residents in these areas. Otherwise, in the south, it can also be heard in the speech of Korean War refugees from Hwanghae.
Alternative forms
