Etymology
Possibly from ᄯᅳᆷ (steum), an archaic form of 뜸 (tteum, “floating”) (substantive form of 뜨— (tteu-)) + 새 (sae, “bird”). Alternatively, the first syllable may be from 섬 (seom, “island”).
