Verb

스미다 (seumida) (infinitive 스며 or 스미어, sequential 스미니)

  1. to soak into, to permeate; to ooze
    빗물이 벽에 스미어 벽지가 얼룩졌다.
    Binmuri byeoge seumieo byeokjiga eollukjyeotda.
    Rain has wetted the wall and the wallpaper became stained.
  2. (of wind) to blow into, to penetrate through
    문틈으로 스미는 찬바람에 방안이 썰렁하니 추웠다.
    Munteumeuro seumineun chanbarame bang-ani sseolleonghani chuwotda.
    The cold wind entered through the crack in the door, making the room chilly and cold.
  3. (of mind or emotion) to sink into, to be imbued
    우리 민요에는 조상의 숨결이 스며 있다.
    Uri minyo-eneun josang-ui sumgyeori seumyeo itda.
    Our folksongs are imbued with the life breath of our ancestors.
