솔방울
Korean
Etymology
First attested in the Yongbi eocheonga (龍飛御天歌 / 용비어천가), 1447, as Middle Korean 솘〮바ᅌᅩᆯ〮 (Yale: swól-s-pàngwól). From 솔 (sol, “pine”) + ㅅ (s, genitive interfix; omitted from the spelling, but this causes the tense phonation of the following consonant) + 방울 (bang-ul).
Pronunciation
- (SK Standard/Seoul) IPA(key): [sʰo̞ɭp͈a̠ŋuɭ]
- Phonetic hangeul: [솔빵울]
