置若罔闻 [zhì ruò wǎng wén]

1. ■ turn a deaf ear to; act as if one had not heard; close [seal; stop; shut] one's ears to; give [keep; pay] no heed to; ignore completely; keep quiet on; let slide like water off a duck's back; pay no attention to; take no heed [notice] of; treat... with indifference:

对朋友的痛苦置若罔闻的人， 对个人的利益非常注意。 Men are awake enough to their own interests, who turn a deaf ear to their friends' distress.

我多次劝告， 他都置若罔闻。 I cautioned him many times but he paid no heed.
