모새
Korean
Etymology
From an ancient root *몰 *mwol "sand" + suffix *새 *-say. See the entry at 모래 (morae) for more. The Standard Seoul sense of "very fine sand" is probably a borrowing from a dialect that involved a narrowing of semantics.
Pronunciation
- (SK Standard/Seoul) IPA(key): [mo̞sʰɛ] ~ [mo̞sʰe̞]
- Phonetic hangeul: [모새/모세]
