Etymology
First attested in the Worin seokbo (月印釋譜 / 월인석보), 1459, as Middle Korean 도다 (Yale: two-ta), similarly attested only in the imperative 도라 (Yale: two-la).
Verb
도다 • (doda) (Gyeongsang)
- to give; used only in the imperative mood
- Synonym: 주다 (juda)
- (auxiliary, with the 어/아 infinitive) for someone; forms benefactive verbs. Used only in the imperative mood.
- 좀 해도라. ― jom hae-dora. ― Just do it for me.
Usage notes
- Used only in the informal imperative conjugations: 도라 (dora) and 도 (do).
- Similar to Standard Korean 달다 (dalda), but used much more commonly.
