Etymology 1

For pronunciation and definitions of 复读 – see 復讀 (“to return to the same school and repeat a course from which one has already graduated, as a result of failing to get good enough results to progress to one's desired higher-level school”). (This term, 复读, is the simplified form of 復讀.)

Notes: Simplified Chinese is mainly used in Mainland China and Singapore. Traditional Chinese is mainly used in Hong Kong, Macau, and Taiwan.
