A shift from いけぬ (ikenu), the classical conjugation of modern いけない (ikenai).[1]

Verb

いけん • (iken) 

1. (Chūgoku, Shikoku, Kansai) to be not good, bad, forbidden
   • あの子(こ)はいけん。

     Ano ko wa iken.

     That kid is no good.

2. (Chūgoku, Shikoku, Kansai) it's bad if, you must not, you should not... (used after a conditional such as ば (-ba) or と (to) or たら (-tara), or after a nominalized verb phrase ending in the て (-te) conjunctive conjugation and often the particle は (ha) or も (mo))
   • お風呂入(ふろはい)らないといけん。

     Ofuro hairanai to iken.

     It's bad if you don't take a bath.

   • まだ食(た)べてはいけんよ。

     Mada tabete wa iken yo.

     You really shouldn't eat yet.
