ὄχθοιβος
Ancient Greek
Etymology
Technical word with a suffix -β- like in κόρυμβος (kórumbos) and κόλλαβος (kóllabos). Connection with ὄχθη (ókhthē, “high edge”) seems possible, but compare also οἶβος (oîbos, “peace of meat from the back of an ox's neck”). According to Beekes, undoubtedly a Pre-Greek word.
