ἀγαυός
Ancient Greek
Etymology
Possibly related to ἀγάομαι (agáomai, “to admire”) (Proto-Indo-European *méǵh₂s (“great”)) or ἀγασθαί (agasthaí, “to wonder, look at”), from ἀ- (a-) + γηθέω (gēthéō, “rejoice”). But, due to the rare υό element, it may be Pre-Greek.
