ἀάνθα
Ancient Greek
Etymology
Schulze explained it as *αὐσ-άνθα (*aus-ántha) to the root of οὖς (oûs, “ear”), but since the suffix is unclear this analysis cannot be substantiated. Another theory derives this word from Proto-Albanian *a)uaϑā, compare modern Albanian vath (“earring”).[1]
