ᚺᚨᚷᛁᚱᚨᛞᚨᛉ
Proto-Norse
Etymology
First element from Proto-Germanic *hagiz, *hagaz (“able, capable”), same as Old Norse hagr (Icelandic hagur). Second element *ᚱᚨᛞᚨᛉ (rādaz) is from Proto-Germanic *rēdaz (“advice, counsel”), same as in ᚠᚱᚨᚹᚨᚱᚨᛞᚨᛉ (frawaradaz) and Old High German Kuonirāt. Note the shift of Proto-Germanic *ē to *ā, also shown in the Old Norse descendant ráð.
