Etymology
Klimov considers this connected with Proto-Kartvelian *q̣wiʒ₁-l- (“liver”) (see ღჳძლი (ɣwiʒli)), referring to jaundice during various types of liver diseases that dramatically increase the yellowish pigmentation of the skin.
