Etymology
From ไป (bpai, “to go”) + ดี (dii, “well”); possibly influenced by or calque of Pali sugati (“happiness; happy state or condition”, literally “good course; good going”), from which Thai สุคติ is derived, or sugata (an epithet of the Budda, literally “(one who has) gone well”), from which Thai สุคต is derived.
