From Old Khmer hor, hora (“astrologer”); ultimately from Pali horā (“hour”) or Sanskrit होरा (horā, “hour; horoscope”). Cognate with Modern Khmer ហោរ (hao), Burmese ဟူးရား (hu:ra:), and Mon ဟောရာ.
