Etymology

From Sanskrit अभिधर्म (abhidharma, literally “higher dharma”), from अभि (abhi, “higher; over; above”) + धर्म (dharma, “dharma”); equivalent to Thai อภิ +‎ ธรรม (tam). Compare Pali abhidhamma, from which Modern Khmer អភិធម្ម (ʾɑɑphɨtmmɔɔ) was derived.

(Buddhism) (พระ~) Abhidhamma, one and the last of the three volumes of the Buddhist Canon; the other two being วินัย (wí-nai) and สูตร (sùut).
