Etymology

From Sanskrit विस्तार (vistāra, “extension; elaborateness; detail”); probably via Old Khmer bistāra. Cognate with Modern Khmer ពិស្តារ (pɨhtaa). Compare Pali vitthāra, from which Thai วิตถาร (wít-tǎan) was derived.

  When it is required by the law or when the court deems it necessary, the court shall then record in writing (by writing as part of a comprehensive memorandum or as a separate part) the essential points of the statements or objections, the agreements, the rulings, the orders, or other matters or procedural acts which are done orally in accordance with the provisions of this Code.
