ോ

Malayalam
Pronunciation
- IPA(key): /oː/
Letter
ോ • (ോ)
- The combining form of the long vowel ഓ (ō, “ō”).
Usage notes
- This letter is actually a pair which sandwiches the consonant it modifies.
- It is sometimes erroneously transliterated as ēā instead of correct o by analogy with diacritics representing ē and ā (see above), for example, in Google Translate, thus, തോൽ (tōl, “birk”) could be also transliterated as tēāl. This feature, subtituting ō with ēā, however, has been inherited from its ancestor script Pallava.[1]
