Cognate with Tamil பக-பகவ்-எனல் (paka-pakav-eṉal, “the crackling sound of a fire, or metaphorically, the prickling tongues of hunger.”), Kannada ಬಗ, ಬಗಬಗ (baga, bagabaga, “the crackling of a flame.”), Kannada ಬಗಬಗನೆ, ಬಗ್ಗನೆ (bagabagane, baggane, “the sound of ಬಗಬಗ (bagabaga, “the crackle of fire.”).”)
