Inherited from Magadhi Prakrit 𑀫𑀡𑀼𑀰𑁆𑀰 (maṇuśśa), from Ashokan Prakrit 𑀫𑀦𑀼𑀰 (manuśa), from Sanskrit मनुष्य (manuṣya), from Proto-Indo-Iranian *manušyás, from Proto-Indo-European *monusyós (“man, human”). Doublet of মিনসে (minôse) and মনিষ (môniṣ).
