Etymology
Borrowed from Arabic مَحَلّ (maḥall), which is from the verb حَلَّ (ḥalla, “to untie”), as in untying a pack horse or camel to make camp. Doublet of মহল্লা (môhôlla), হালাল (halal), and মহলা (môhôla).
